After 5 days of enhanced seismicity and ground deformation, a new fissure eruption began on July 7th on the Reykjanes peninsula in Southwestern Iceland. Many scientists from Iceland and internationally are hoping to collect data from this eruption. CONVERSE is ready help coordinate these efforts! Anyone interested in coordinating or collaborating should reach out to our team. If you are planning to go to the eruption, please contact us so we can further facilitate collaboration, and, of course, stay safe! Most of the communication will be through the dedicated Slack channel here.
Official information can be found on the Icelandic Met Office page.
